The following arts and culture initiatives were lost, nearly didn’t happen, or are at risk of not happening:
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
Initial expansion denial from unfriendly City Council resulted in $2MM delays and potential loss of the Gardens to Spanish Point
Sarasota Orchestra
Unsupportive City Commission resulted in relocation to near Lakewood Ranch
The Bay
Years of delay and uncertainty due to lack of support from some City Commissioners
Bobby Jones Golf Club
Lack of support almost prevented it from becoming a reality
New Sarasota Performing Arts Center
A game-changing initiative that will require vision and courage from our City Commission to reach fruition
